TRIANGLE MIDDLE EAST LEGISLATIVE, EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY PROJECT

TIMELEAP is a collaborative advocacy effort initiated by members of the Coalition for Peace with Justice and Triangle Tikkun. It also includes representatives from:

MISSION: End the Israeli/Palestinian tragedy by challenging our elected representatives to make human rights for both peoples central to our government's foreign policy.

WHO WE ARE: The Triangle Middle East Legislative, Education and Advocacy Project (TIMELEAP) is a group of faith based and community human rights activists, leaders and concerned residents who have come together, determined to influence and transform the role our government plays in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.  TIMELEAP brings extraordinary resources to its efforts to educate and influence Triangle legislators, media, and its diverse constituencies and organizations.

GOALS: TIMELEAP seeks a secure home for both peoples that requires:
  • Bringing all parties, including HAMAS to the table to negotiate a secure peace based on the 1967 borders;
  • An immediate end to settlement expansion;
  • An end to Palestinian house demolitions;
  • A halt to further construction of the wall;
  • An end to the Gaza blockade;
  • Redirecting U.S. Military aid to Israel to promote social and economic development for peace in both Israel and Palestine.
STRATEGIES: TIMELEAP will cultivate relationships with our legislators, presenting our prophetic vision, political analysis and proposals for peace;  we will make intentional and consistent efforts to inform and interact with the media, including meeting with editorial boards, challenging news content, developing op-ed pieces and letters to the editor; we will bring our work back to our respective organizations and seek further support for our legislative advocacy, education and media intervention efforts.
